Primary Responsibilities

This position is responsible for assisting in the administration and monitoring of the Quality Management Systems in Agricultural Services operations incompliancewith international standards and in conjunction with policies and procedures set up by Agricultural Services Management.

Reporting to

QA Manager, SGS Canada, Agricultural Services

Specific responsibilities

  • Administers the Quality Assurance and Quality Control system in conjunction with the QA Manager to maintain conformance to the QMS program and international standards as applicable.
  • Maintain controlled documentation (Quality Manual, procedures, forms, etc).
  • Write, review, and revise corporate management system documents as needed.
  • In conjunction with the QA Manager, aids in coordinating and maintaining proficiency testing and round robin programs and monitoring performance.
  • Maintain QA records
  • Under the direction of the QA Manager, performs internal audits, investigate customer quality complaints and claims and necessary follow up
  • Maintains corrective and preventive action program, monitor and report on corrective and preventive actions status with respect to laboratory performance and client
  • Assist or facilitate Operation to identify, survey, and/or evaluate required standards, procedures or quality practices
  • Assist branch personnel in addressing questions, concerns and stuck points with regards to quality practices
  • Assist the branches to maintain equipment inventories, calibration schedule, personnel training programs, and other quality tasks as required.
  • Analyse operation performance data and prepare summary for management review.
  • Perform other clerical, administrative and miscellaneous duties as required.


  • University degree or Diploma from a recognized technical institute in a Science related program.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in an administrative or technical role.
  • Prior technical experience in a chemistry related role would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in ISO 17025 standards is required.
  • Previous experience in Quality Management Systems ISO 9001 would be an asset.


  • Strong science background and experience in laboratory practices.
  • A good understanding of quality assurance and quality control programs and statistical methodologies.
  • Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Excellent technical writing skills, ability to write reports and work instructions.
  • Detail orientated and the ability to work independently and as a team under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy. Works well under pressure.
  • Proven time management skills, ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment with frequently changing priorities.
  • Candidates must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
  • Ability to interact well with others.
  • Must be creative, innovative and task orientated.
