Position Summary 

Couriers are responsible for fulfilling kit requests and making pick-ups of samples from client offices and work sites within a particular region. Couriers will also prepare and deliver bottle orders locally or assist in making and shipping kits when needed. Couriers may be asked to setup and login samples at sample login if necessary. As the face of our company, couriers are responsible for building and maintaining excellent relationships with our customers and providing superb customer service at all times.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Prepare quality bottle orders for delivery or shipment to clients  
• Schedule and assign all customer pick-up and deliveries daily.
• Act as a liaison between the clients and the laboratory
• Provide superb customer service at all times
• Maintain all maps and customer directions.
• Schedule maintenance of assigned courier vehicle.
• Make pick-ups of samples at client offices or work sites.
• Deliver samples to laboratory and record sample receipt information.
• Assist in sample setup and/or login and create labels
• Maintain primary courier vehicle in good condition.
• Follow all SGS Safety, Ethics and Quality practices.
• Participate in staff meetings.
• Read, understand and perform all applicable laboratory SOPs as written.
• Maintain all required documentation with accuracy and clarity.

SUPERVISION
• Routine duties are performed with minimal supervision; standard practices or procedures allow me to proceed alone at routine work; occasional check of work while in progress; work is reviewed upon completion.

Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• No prior experience
• General delivery service and customer service oriented experience jobs with attention to detail.

LANGUAGE/MATH/REASONING ABILITY
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS
• Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

Physical Demands
• Ascending or descending stairs, ramps and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms
• Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
• Bending legs downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
• Moving about on foot to accomplish task, particularly for long distances.
• Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
• Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time.
• Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
• Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving object horizontally from position to position.
• Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner.
• The visual acuity required including color, depth perception and field of those who whose work includes the operation of trucks, forklifts, cranes and high lift equipment.
• Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
• Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
• Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
• Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a productive/technical nature.
• Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, and works with the fingers.

Work Environment
• Outdoors and indoor shop environment with adequate ventilation.
• Wet or humid conditions (non-weather)
• Work near moving mechanical parts
• Minimal noise (examples: light traffic)
