Data Analyst Coordinator

As a member of the team, conduct sample registration or review of sample login (samples ID’s, collection dates, field information), reporting and invoicing in a laboratory LIMS system to ensure accurate information in data reports. Perform work assignments assigned to team as well as coordinate work scheduling for the team, assist in KPI monitoring and training of new employees. In particular, perform work in a manner with utmost ethics and data integrity at all times.

Operational direct reporting to Affiliate Manager or Supervisor; administrative accountability to GBS Supervisor.


·       At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.

·       Register sample jobs and validate accuracy of certain sample login data in the lab’s LIMS against Chain-of-Custody forms, including sample ID, sampling date, field sampler information.

·       Report sample jobs and check the accuracy of the results, via crosschecking with known result relationships, sample IDs and Chain-of-Custody forms.

·       Create and review invoices ensuring accuracy of information.

·       Perform other data management functions as assigned in the future.

·       Training and supporting employees, ensuring guidelines and procedures are followed.

·       Provide a daily report documenting reviews and samples where changes are required.

·       Prepare shift roster and ensure adequate cover when a team member is on leave. Ensure the team is following the roster and resolve any issues that may arise. Escalate to the Affiliate Manager and GBS Supervisor as required.

·       Prepare KPI data and reports as required.

·       Ensure lab deadlines are met and the GBS Team Lead (or section Lab Manager in their absence) is notified immediately if the turnaround time specified cannot be met.

·       Adopt and support specific operational improvement activities as communicated by the GBS EHS Supervisor. These projects will focus on the improvement of quality and efficiency.

·       Look for efficiency gains in your section by being aware of new technologies and reviewing existing procedure.

·       Be able to respond to technical queries.

·       Performs other related duties as may be assigned either in support of departmental goals or for his/her personal or professional training, education or development as programmed by his/her immediate superior.

·       Ensure work area in GBS is always kept clean and presentable.

·       Remain familiar with SGS quality assurance procedures.

·       Be compliant to all SGS QHSE and HR policies and procedures.


·     Minimum four-year degree course (preferably computer related courses).

·     A minimum of one year data encoding and verification experience is a plus. 

·     Demonstrated commitment to data quality and operational excellence


·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English language (B2 or C1 level)

·      Leadership and management skills

·      Strong MS Excel skills

·      Detail oriented.

·      High level of integrity

·      Ability to learn new computer programs

·      Teamwork and co-operation

·    Organisation and efficiency

·    Taking responsibility
