Reporting to the VP Global Procurement & Supply Chain Management, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of best practice processes, systems and supporting methodologies, tools, performance measurement and continuous improvement of procurement excellence; As a member of the global Procurement leadership team, you will provide guidance and direction to the entire procurement team across all regions and countries and contribute to the strategic transformation of the function. Finally you will actively engage as a partner of choice with business leaders, functions and regions to implement the 2020 procurement strategy and to support SGS profitable business growth;
More specifically, you will:
  • Lead and coach the Procurement Excellence team to develop and effectively rollout processes & systems that generate best value to SGS Group overall. Bring in own expertise and provide managerial advice to facilitate stakeholder support and create momentum in the organization for change;
  • Develop strong capabilities in the team through effective recruitment, training, talent management and collaboration. Build a strong team with a common purpose, trust, meaningfulness, dependability and clear structure and targets. 
  • Drive and engage in Business partnering with stakeholders to foster the PARTNER OF CHOICE vision, meaning: Understand business priorities and characteristics and develop solutions from the customer/stakeholder perspective. Make stakeholders understand what Procurement & Supply Chain contributes to the benefit of stakeholders and the SGS group and drive such solutions with expertise and necessary persistency. 
  • Develop and implement best practice end to end global procurement processes and be responsible for its efficiency and effectiveness;   
  • Drive compliance through global collaboration, policies, processes, reporting and systems. Set standards and targets;
  • Advise Category Management in sourcing processes (Demand Specification, RfX Negotiation / Contracting, Contract Management, Supplier Management, Supplier Phase Out). 
  • Establish and maintain a procurement academy for all procurement roles across the SGS group; 
  • Establish an effective communication plan and channels in order to optimally inform the procurement community as well as its stakeholders about relevant topics; 
  • Foster Knowledge Management in procurement through training, sourcing support and exchange;  Lead together with global Head Category management the global target setting and performance management process; Establish an annual “drum beat” for reporting and performance reviews; 
  • Personally, engage in complex procurement processes and projects such as global negotiations, issue resolution and joint solution development.
We expect the ideal candidate to have:
  • 10+ years of experience in sourcing, supply chain and/or operations, gradually developed into senior leadership positions with leading demonstrable successful teams in sourcing and/or supply chain in a cross-cultural environment and matrix based environment. 
  • Must have a track record of successful experience in sourcing materials globally with proven negotiation skills.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing an international and remote team of 5-10 procurement professionals;
  • Track record of driving successful change processes with measurable business improvement
  • University Degree required. MBA preferred. 
  • Experience in procurement processes/methods/tools/systems, compliance monitoring, knowledge management and performance management in Procurement. 
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications with advanced knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint. Oracle proficiency, a plus. 
  • Results driven, innovative and creative. Action-oriented and full of energy to face challenging situations. 
  • Ability to solve complex problems and think through both tangible and intangible factors in making decisions for the company. 
  • Ability to maintain (cross-functional) relationships with internal stakeholder and apply different conflict resolution strategies to ensure enhancement on procurement excellence. 
  • Ability to interpret and ground decisions on solid analytics. 
  • Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders, including executive management, to achieve the initiative objectives.  
  • Able to work within a global and highly matrixed organization 
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
