Job Title: Hardgoods / Electrical Inspector

Job Type: Casual (Ad hoc – 0 hours)

Job Location: Around UK, preferably based in North/Midlands

Travel: 20% of the time

Daily Rate: £220 per day


We are looking for a Hardgoods / Electrical Inspector on a casual contract basis with extensive experience in the Consumer Goods industry. The successful candidate must have an excellent understanding of manufacturing process.

You will be responsible for performing Quality Control for our UK client on ad-hoc basis.

The successful candidate will need to be skilled in the use of testing equipment and should be able to carry out basic tests, have a good level of competence and an understanding of interpreting drawings and product specifications.

As a Quality Inspector you will be responsible for;

  • Performing in-coming material checks, during production checks and final random inspections on finished products and packaging.
  • Understanding and being familiar with consumer goods defect classifications such as minor, major and critical defects.
  • Understanding the top techniques of how to check products such as Toys, Bags, Fat Textile, Electrical Appliance Workmanship and performance.
  • Carrying out basic tests to conform to EU Standards.
  • Verifying correct packaging and labelling.
  • Testing products for conformance to quality requirements.
  • Identifying, recording and reporting faults, deviations from specifications or production problems in an inspection report.
  • Comply with supplier and SGS standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safe work practices.

Your skills and experiences;

  • Fully experienced with all inspection/measuring equipment.
  • Fully experienced in reading and understanding Engineering drawings.
  • You must be able to remain calm under pressure especially in situations when quality requirements may conflict with production demands.
  • Work to high standards of quality, within a strong safety culture.
  • Capable of working with tight deadlines and multiple deliverables.
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work well in a team.
  • Good numerical and literacy skills.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications, email and internet.
  • Good writing and computer skills using Word and Excel.
