SGS’s DTS (Digital Trust Services) is expanding its' Graz Cyberlab to provide clients with security certification on their products and systems and ensure the security functionality and robustness of product designs. SGS’s Cybersecurity services also cover data integrity, organization certification, and network and infrastructure security. The Secure Product and Systems unit focuses on Software and Hardware design.


We are searching for the following experts and future experts to join our team:


  • Side-Channel Analysis Expert

In side-channel analysis an attacker tries to gain device internal secret information by measuring physical properties of the device like power consumption, timing, or electromagnetic emanation and use different statistical methods to extract the needed information.

The side-channel expert is responsible for analyzing the device under test, developing a test plan, conducting the measurements and statistical analysis and developing new tools, as well as automatizing and enhancing existing ones and participating in assessment teams for complex products.


•           Fault Attack Expert

Fault attacks are a method to manipulate the behavior of a device in a way that it is operating outside it's normal conditions and force it to behave in a way which causes it to either leak secret information or to bypass security measures like authentication. Traditional methods to induce faults in a device are power glitching, clock manipulation, EM injection, or laser fault injection.

The fault attack expert is responsible for analyzing the device under test, developing a test plan, conducting the measurements and statistical analysis and developing new tools, as well as automatizing and enhancing existing ones and participating in assessment teams for complex products.


•           Hardware Security Expert

The analysis of which potential security vulnerabilities a hardware product (Integrated Circuit or System) has and how to exploit them is one of the key competencies of the Hardware Security Expert.

The hardware security expert is responsible fo performing code and design reviews and assessing the security and the robustness of the implementation, establishing a security test plan and analyzing the results as well as automatizing and enhancing existing ones and participating in assessment teams for complex products.


•           Security Evaluator

In order to evaluate the compliance and security of an electronic product according to several security evaluation and or certification standards it is necessary to evaluate the overall lifecycle of the product from design, over implementation, production, delivery and usage.

The Security Evaluator is responsible for such assessments, knowing the according standards and what is required to prove the compliance to those standards relying on a deep technical understanding of the products being evaluated.


•           Electronics Engineer

In order to assess the security of electronic products and systems, a broad variety of tests have to be conducted, depending on the nature of the product, the security level, the operational environment, and the analysis of the potential vulnerabilities of the evaluated device. Most of these tests require support by nonstandard test equipment which needs to be developed in house. This equipment can range from interface connectors over test PCBs to complex test systems including FPGA and embedded software.

The Electronics Engineer is responsible for developing and build these systems based on the needs defined by the Security Experts and for supporting the performance of the tests.

You could come from a hardware design background and have specialized in areas such as Verification, Validation, Physical Design or Design for Test. In addition, you will possess an understanding of the security flaws of hardware devices.
