Life Sciences Services (LSS) from SGS – optimize your development timelines to get medicines and medical devices to market quickly and safely. As a result, we are often a preferred partner for the top 20 pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager will sell Life Sciences Services utilizing the strength of local affiliates’ business infrastructure and resources.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Sell exclusive contracts in regards to LSS, whenever possible, as a preferable option compared to Frame contracts. 
  • Sell and lead the sales roll out of new strategic LSS or solutions through multinational companies.
  • Enhance worldwide revenue, profit and market share with major multinational accounts (retailers, manufacturers, services industry), through both existing and new business, with proactive focus on value-added solutions and services.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop a global sales strategy to achieve defined sales targets.
  • Prospect and sell Life Sciences services.
  • Produce accurate and detailed global proposals for clients in accordance with LSS procedures, SGS policies and global pricing structure.
  • Ensure before a proposal is sent to the customer, that SGS has the necessary capability and resources to perform the work as required, in order to ensure a correct and smooth execution of service.
  • Actively follow up on all proposals and conduct client presentations.
  • Develop very close relationships with and work with all appropriate SGS technical teams and local sales teams, and refer local clients to local sales teams.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Record results of all activities on an on-going basis into the  Sales Pipeline tool.
  • Ensure global legal Master Agreement is finalized and signed by the two parties (SGS and Client).
  • Coordinate all cross-business activities within SGS to sell to global key accounts – i.e. Non-LSS account requiring a Life Sciences service.
  • Ensure that LSS Operational IT Tool is properly documented during the proposal and contract signature stage and that affiliates are properly notified.
  • Proper handover with the appointed GKAM (Global Key Account Manager) at the kick-off of any new global contract.

Education, Required Skills & Competencies:
  • Extensive experience in selling Life Sciences services and solutions to global clients in a fast paced, dynamic organisation.
  • Strong ability in prospecting and highly experienced in opening doors within new accounts.
  • Fluency in English and the language of allocated territory. Multiple language proficiency would be an advantage.
  • Excellent computer literacy in the use of both MS Office and internal IT systems.
  • Highly developed presentation skills and ability to interact effectively with senior government officials, and senior management of organizations.
  • Analytical, decisive, adaptable, ethical, problem solver, persuasive, commercially-sensitive.
  • Highly skilled at setting up strong networking internally and also within the client’s organization, in order to be in the best position to drive and lead change.
  • Precise and accurate when issuing proposal for global clients, including technical elements, in order to prevent any misinterpretation and ensure alignment with the client’s needs and expectations.
