Job Title: Jetty Technician        

Job Type: Casual (Ad-Hoc)

Job Location: Avonmouth

Hourly Rate: £10.43 per hour


As a Jetty Technician you will be responsible for undertaking terminal and jetty operations in a safe and efficient manner ensuring client requirements are met. You will also be responsible for the connection and disconnection of loading arms, spool pieces and samplers in accordance with discharge/loading orders in a safe manner to ensure cargo is loaded and unloaded in a timely manner.


Your role will include monitoring the ship to shore interface during loading / discharge / bunkering / deballasting or any vessel operation whilst alongside the jetties, and the monitoring of terminal storage tank levels whilst product movements are in progress to avoid under or overloading.


You will also maintain the jetty logs and ensure that a concise jetty handover is undertaken on shift change to ensure continuity of service and minimise the possibility of errors, whilst also carrying out pre-arrival and post departure checks and clean-up of jetty area to maintain good housekeeping.

In the role you will also assist with training of new operatives under the guidance of relevant Supervisors / Managers to ensure standards are maintained. 

You’ll also have awareness at all times, reporting all observations of defects, near misses and incidents that could have or did compromise health, safety, environment, plant integrity or security, therefore you will ensure you and all employees are working in a safe manner with the correct PPE and fully understand the tasks, emergency procedures and associated risks.

You will ensure that all activities are performed in compliance with the relevant Operating Procedures, HSE Manuals and Risk Assessments and assist Supervisors / Managers in identifying and correcting any non-conformances with regard to quality, operational or safety matters, whilst also providing information for incident investigations as required to ensure continuous improvement and H&S standards are maintained.

  • Light maintenance skills.
  • Working knowledge of Permit to Work systems.
  • Working knowledge of Risk assessments.
