To provide ongoing training and support to the end users (internal & external) in the use of the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and other E, H&S software programs. This position is also responsible to ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the LIMS system along with providing technical input with regards to functionality, development and implementation of improvements to the existing system for the Environment, Health & Safety Laboratory.

 

Responsibilities

• Work with users, developers and technical resources to implement enhancements.
• Provide front-line end user support for LIMS and other E, H&S software.
• Provide ongoing training sessions for LIMS and other E, H&S software.
• Assisting with hardware deployment and connectivity to the LIMS system.
• Produce/maintain training materials and system documentation.
• Assist with supporting various laboratory processes and Quality Control initiatives.
• Possibility of being assigned as a resource for projects.
• Possibility of being assigned and coordinate special or ad hoc projects as needed.

• Post-secondary education in Science, Computer Science or a related field is an asset
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience programing is an asset
• Laboratory experience is an asset
• Previous experience with computer programming and databases is an asset.
• Excellent understanding of LIMS applications and procedures.
• Solid understanding of various lab procedures and general knowledge of instrumentation.
• Demonstrates excellent English verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
• Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
• Ability to work well with others & independently.
• Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
• Works well under pressure.
• Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
• Travel to other SGS locations or client location may be required from time to time.
