  • Hands on working manger role
  • Subject matter expert for engine and vehicle emissions testing laboratory
  • Strong team management, leadership, coaching, and mentoring experience to develop team members to achieve their full potential and business objectives
  • Creating new capabilities and services to ensure the company has appropriate portfolio for meeting customer needs
  • Team is responsible for calibrating all related automotive instrumentation (dynamometer, emissions analyzers, and specialty exhaust sampling equipment) in accordance to Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and ISO standards
  • Team is responsible for preventive maintenance of automotive instrumentation and facility equipment
  • Team is responsible for integrating new equipment, advancing lab ability’s, and advancing automation systems
  • Responsible for high level consulting service to internal customers
  • Responsible to insure laboratories are producing high quality data

  • Maintain up to date calibrations and preventive maintenance in accordance to CFR and ISO standards
  • Maintain detailed records of all calibrations and preventive maintenance
  • Maintain system logs or manuals to document testing or operation of equipment
  • Participate in the recruiting process of the M&C Group
  • Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers or field representatives as necessary to procure replacement parts
  • Provide customer support and education, working with users to identify needs, determine sources of problems, or to provide information on product use
  • Write reports or record data on testing techniques, laboratory equipment, or specifications to assist engineers
  • Procure parts and maintain inventory and related documentation
  • Reassemble and test equipment following repairs
  • Inspect and test systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate malfunctions
  • Responsible for commissioning new equipment, developing necessary training materials for related staff employees
  • Follow documented procedures to properly execute calibration of instrumentation equipment
  • Perform data quality checks on calibrated instrumentation
  • Responsible to become proficient at using calibration automation systems
  • Setup data channel configurations for the instrumentation equipment
  • Responsible to work with engineering and technician staff to revolve all issues
  • Directly involved in immediate team development, coaching, and mentoring, making him / herself available at all times
  • Oversee staff training and seeks opportunities to improve the safety of the laboratories and processes
  • Develop and carry out tasks to continuously improve the safety of the operation
  • Oversee project execution in coordination with department leaders
  • Provide daily task management for the M&C Team
  • Promote managerial excellence by improving existing ISO17025 quality management system
  • Provide leadership to install, improve, and commission advanced instruments / systems, partnering with other groups
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and variable schedule(s) as necessary
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned


  • Prefer a B.S. Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)
  • Minimum five years relevant experience with expertise in emissions testing technology
  • Experience supervising the daily tasks of technicians and engineers
  • Strong and vast leadership, coaching, and mentoring experience with focus on employees’ development
  • Desire to work and live in Denver, CO area



  • High level of integrity, ethics, and drive towards customer service with strong poise, tact, and diplomacy
  • Outstanding leadership experience and abilities, comfortable in dealing with varied engineers’ personalities providing coaching, mentoring, support to those in his/her group as well as others in the organization

  • High ability to manage time to prioritize competing tasks and demands being able to successfully resolve them
  • Expert knowledge of exhaust emissions sampling (gasoline and diesel)
  • Maintain vehicle laboratory, engine laboratory, and facility equipment
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing services such as needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of satisfaction
  • Able to use motorized equipment to move vehicles and materials
  • Able to bend, squat, lift up to 50 lbs. stand or sit for up to two hours
  • Use basic hand and power tools to maintain vehicles and laboratory equipment
  • Able to read and interpret data to participate in data quality review and troubleshooting activities
  • Detailed understanding of Federal regulations for emissions testing (CFR 40 Parts 86 or 1065 / 1066)
  • Ability to diagnose test operations problems using scientific principles and lead team to implement effective solution
  • Familiarity with quality management principles
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel



  • Knowledgeable regarding Federal regulations for emissions testing
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance on and calibrate the laboratory equipment
  • Ability to approach problems in a scientific manner and implement resolutions with minimal guidance
  • Ability to effectively communicate and articulate ideas, operational, and test quality issues to engineers and managers
  • Participate in data quality review and troubleshooting



  • Maintain a safe, clean, and tidy worksite
  • Demonstrates strong commitment to SGS HSE Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions by participating in safety meetings, completing required training, intervening in unsafe situations, refusing unsafe work, and complying fully with all applicable laws and regulations related to HSE
  • Responds quickly to emergency situations, assisting staff in maintaining readiness to respond to emergencies
  • In accordance with SGS HSE Mgmt. System requirements, disposes, or directs the disposal of waste generated daily, in compliance with all waste transportation and disposal regulations and requirements
  • Reports all safety incidents (actuals and near misses) in accordance with SGS Incident Reporting requirements
  • Uses all equipment (e.g.: safety related) as intended, reporting damaged / lost equipment to supervisor
  • Maintains awareness of hazards & proposes controls to supervisor, HSE representative, relevant client / site contact
  • Actively participates in incident investigations and risk assessments as deemed necessary by SGS management.



  • Valid driving license
  • Ability and willingness to travel, sometimes on short notice
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must successfully pass drug test and background check
