This position provides administrative support to the SGS Life Science Services Operations and Quality Assurance Department.  The incumbent must be capable of multi-tasking to meet the departmental needs of working with laboratory managers and supervisors on a regular basis.  


  • Maintaining Supply and Services Request Log
  • Initiating a requisition for a Purchase Order in BOSS/Oracle based on the information provided by the Supply and Services request log.
  • Receiving supplies and delivering them into appropriate locations
  • Updating Procurement system and Supply and Services request log with received supplies
  • Providing vendor invoices to responsible personnel for charge back processing.
  • Informing Procurement and Quality Assurance team for new supplier/vendor set-up and participating in new supplier approval process
  • Responsible with contacting suppliers for order updates and for supplies which do not conform to standards. 
  • Responsible for outbound shipments of client samples, rejected materials (returns), and otherwise as needed.   Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certification required.  
  • Maintaining the supplies storage area organized and in good order
  • Performing any other duties, specific projects and responsibilities as assigned or required in a timely and professional manner
  • Training Compliance:
  • Keeping training records according to internal Orientation and Training SOP
  • Participating in training sessions and department meetings pertaining to standards and processes
  • Requests training if work assigned requires knowledge of SOP with no record of training
 
 

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or a General Educational Development equivalency (GED).
  • A post secondary education in a recognized administration, business, or scientific program would be an asset.
  • Previous experience in an administrative or purchasing role would be an asset.
  • Prior technical experience in a chemistry or biochemistry related role would be preferred
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions / Standard Operating Procedures in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Candidates must be proficient in using various type of computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.) and be able to demonstrate good keyboarding skills.
  • Must be highly organized and able to work effectively and efficiently in a demanding environment with frequently changing priorities.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
  • Ability to work well with others & independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Ensures full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.
  • Appropriate attitude, constant vigilance, attention to detail and following Training SOP for training and training records.
