Specific Responsibilities

  • Proposes to the VC Area Manager priorities for Research work, taking into account the potential for generating new valuation results and the volume of transactions concerned.
  • Develops and uses sources of information relevant to the research work, such as desk research: contacts with sellers, quotations, price lists, specialized professional publications (subscriptions), reliable internet sources of information and Field research: trade fairs, visits and meetings with actors in market (sellers, forwarders, etc).
  • Gathers updated information and documented evidence on the price levels in a specific market / product group and on freight, as well as on all factors that may be influencing such price levels.
  • Prepares Research Reports by describing and analyzing the background and methodology for the research work, the main market drivers, the market situation and the current price levels observed, the market/prices outlook, the valid references to be used in future valuation opinions, and the recommended follow-up for the Research.

  • Researches on specific transaction as directed by the VC Area Manager for transactions of particular significance (e.g., plant project, high value goods, and specific request from contract managers).  

  • Identifies, develops and maintains Valuation Methodologies based on the findings of Research work for product categories where such methodologies are relevant. 
  • Submits Research reports to VC Area Manager for review and approval.
  • Maintains Tradeworks Market Research database with updated Research reports, as per work schedule approved by VC Manager and VC Area Manager
  • Register new price risk records in the Profiler and E-Valuator databases related to new research reports issued and approved by VC Area Manager
  • Updates regularly the Profiler and E-Valuator databases with relevant research findings, particularly concerning applicable price ranges for researched products.


Education requirements

University degree or minimum 5 years commercial experience (sales/purchasing) in import or export sector.

Professional experience

  • Minimum 1 year experience in international trade / commerce   
  • Minimun 1 year experience in valuation activities

 Other technical requirements

  • Knowledge of commercial business terms and practices (Incoterms, discounts, commercial levels, payment terms, etc.)
  • Knowledge of valuation systems (ACV, BDV, EMP)
  • Desirable knowledge of general origin rules
  • Desirable technical product expertise, based on previous professional experiences     

Languages

  • Fluent in English; any other languages are an advantage
