Primary Responsibilities:
SGS seeks to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic sustainability consultant. The main purpose of this role is to assist SGS’s corporate clients in their sustainability goals and to support or possibly manage client programs. The overall purpose of this position is to support existing business and assist in the development of new business opportunities for the U.S. Sustainability team, while managing individual sustainability projects. The candidate may also work on project involving other internationally based SGS sustainability groups.

This position will help sustain the continued growth of the sustainability business by: providing quality project execution and added value service to clients; recommending growth opportunities; and supporting the existing sales team in addressing the sustainability needs of clients. The candidate will interface with clients and addressing client problems/questions/comments in a clear and professional manner. This is an excellent opportunity to develop and grow with an advisory team with the full support, expertise and experience of SGS business.

Specifically These Responsibilities Are To:
 Conducting life cycle assessments, managing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) projects, support Cradle to Cradle assessments, preparing End of life reports.
 Assist in management of supply chain assessment programs including but not limited to the implementation of the Higg index Environmental Facility Module of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition.
 Preparing reports and presentations.
 Develop new business opportunities (15% of time) by answering to leads, listening to customers’ needs and proposing projects/programs to answer to these requests.
 Support SGS sales and marketing activities.
 Be a key contact and work closely with the SGS personnel globally as needed to facilitate Sustainability projects and to ensure a consistent approach is adopted throughout the SGS network.
 Represent SGS at external conferences as needed.
 Support unique solution/service development
 The position requires travel up to 10% of the time, in North America. International travels are not excluded.

Profile of the position (Requirements & Qualifications):

Bachelor of Science degree in relevant Engineering or Science subject. Masters degree in related discipline can substitute for 1 year of work experience.
 At least 3 years experience in performing, managing, interpreting and/or communicating of Sustainability programs. Experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD). Knowledge or Experience in the following areas are a plus:
o the PEP Ecopassport program
the EU Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) initiative
o Cradle to Cradle product certification
o Health Product Declarations
o the Higg index of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (Product module and Facilities module)
 Robust knowledge of sustainability, supply chain, Ecodesign issues and business drivers.
 Effective interpersonal skills, able to develop good working relationships with people at all levels.
 Knowledge of current consumer market issues, standards and regulations.
 Proficiency in oral and written English.
 Fluent in French is a plus.
 Previous experience in the consulting business is beneficial.
