The US IT Lab Solutions Team manages the roll-out, support and development of software solutions that are used in 80+ laboratories in the US. Support and development activities cover a variety of LIMS packages, quality systems, instrument support models and data requirements in a variety of industries.
The candidate will lead a growing team of LIMs support specialists, engineers, architects and project managers, working in close collaboration with the Lines of Business (LOB), to define, design, develop, implement and deploy a variety of solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities will include the management of engineering, architect, project manager, business analysts, and support specialist resources to facilitate the support, development, design, management and execution for deployments of a range of solutions to individual laboratories per the SGS core design.


US IT Director

Specific Responsibilities

• Lead the US IT Lab Solutions Team in the efficient planning and rollout of software packages/solutions as needed.
o Managing the design, architecture and development of solutions
o Delivering sustainable and forward thinking solutions in a timely and effective manner
o Managing relationships with local managers (Laboratory Directors, Laboratory Managers, LOB Managers)
o Managing relationships and activities with other internal teams related to each project such as:
 Infrastructure and Back Office IT teams to develop sustainable solutions
 Global IT groups to ensure solutions are in line with overall SGS strategies
• Managing a team of direct reports to effectively assign and balance resource load; including, but not limited to, resource training, performance, and development
• Managing relationships with core IT functions and business managers throughout lifecycle of solution development and deployment to ensure solutions meet the needs of the clients
• Manage the design, development, and software deployment per requirements and development best practices
• Manage the ecosystem of solution development to push creative, inventive, forward thinking solutions
• Promote, and participate in the development of, the SGS Global IT Lab strategy and solutions


• Bachelor’s degree in a Technology (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems) or Scientific (Chemistry, Biology, etc.) field or related discipline or equivalent in terms of education, training, and demonstrated work experience
• Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in management in laboratory environments; preferably in IT functional management
• Experience in distributed, virtual team management
• Scientific informatics knowledge, laboratory operations and Information Technology (IT) proficiency is required
• Experience managing remote projects
